Retirement at age 52 sounds really good, fer sure fer sure. (Rule of 80 till sounds like a long time though.) |

rule of 80 is really not that bad. I started with IDOC at age 24 and will retire at 52. Thats not so bad. |

Texas is the 80 rule, they changed it a couple of years ago. Some people are grandfathered on the old rule, but new hires, there age and years must equal 80. |

Jeez, Idaho’s retirement plan made me shudder. 80 and out sounds like eternity. I agree with ComfortablyNumb about hoping something is left when I get there. And hope some judge doesn’t change the rules AFTER I get there. |

Idaho is Rule of 80. Your age and years of service add up to 80 and you get full benefits. For instance I started with my agency at 24 y.o. and can take early retirement at fifty but won’t get full retirement until I am 52. On the down side of that who can afford insurance til their 67 so I guess I will work a few more years. |

At this point, I’ll just be happy if there are any funds left in the retirement fund when I get there, whenever it may be. |

I agree with iceonfire that 30 years is a long time in this profession. Ohio’s eligibility plan, along with everyone else’s, will be different by the time a lot of people get to retirement age. |

this is Ohio’s present, along with the recommended new one.. Age & Service Eligibility – Add two years to the current plan. **
