Wow Mick, that is what is great about these forums. You really get a sense of the different approaches. What I know of Ireland, I love. I find it interesting that your facility has the option of military. Do all facilities there have this approach? Is this due to gun control restrictions? Shakey, I wish to offer this, since: Hince, it is my opinion, you are a professional gunfighter. You are paid to maintain a level of skill. See what I mean? This question was posed to me by one of my fellow firearm instructors. He is on the “police” side of our department. We had this discussion during one of our down times between shoots. Really changed the way I look at that part of our job. Does your department authorize off duty cary? If not, do you have a concealed carry permit? |

I work in Ireland. And yes we do transport inmates. If we need an armed escort it usually consists of Police and Military. We have only one prison with Guard Towers and they are manned by the Military. |

Yes, we have armed positions we have no towers but we arm our perimeter and transportation officers. We all must requalifiy yearly. |

Mick, Where do you work? Do your officers conduct transportation of inmates? Are there guard towers? |

Ok, next question(s)..Mick and Shakey. With your departments, do you have positions that require you to be armed? Like transportation or towers? and if so, does your department require you to re-qualify regularly? Please bear with me we’re getting to the point soon. |

OK, I gonna stir some things up here (hopefully) and get all of you thinking. Question: Are you a PROFESSIONAL GUNFIGHTER? Please give the first answer that comes to mind…JUST YES OR NO to start, then we can go back after we have some answers and qualify our answers. But please just limit your first post to just YES OR NO. BE SAFE, |
