Topic: The Club House / Women CO's in County Jail- Feedback Wanted

As a new CO, I am wondering about others experience in County Jails. I have heard that with AB 109 county jails are more dangerous than in years past. Please share your thoughts on this.

Also, as a new recruit I will not be attending the Academy for almost seven months.

My in house training will last 14 weeks. Is this the best practice? Do I need more than two afternoons of Defensive Tactic Training?

Hi there fellow rookie. I get sworn in on Monday. I go by the moniker Officer New. So, happy I finally found good pair of shoes. It only took four pairs which were purchased, three of which were returned. The salesman said, “shoes are like relationship- they are never going to get better. How they are in the beginning is how they will stay”. I went with Magnum Stealth Force and hope they will provide comfort and endurance for my long shifts. Tell me about the best aspects of the job?

Howdy there. I am starting as a County CO in two weeks. Not sure what to expect.

Topic: Everything Education / New CO- Salary Negotiation Question

1. I will be a new County CO with a start date in two weeks. I have an undergraduate and graduate degree. Should I ask for a higher step because I have an advanced (Doctorate) degree or let it go? My education has left me saddled with some hefty student loans which I am repaying. However, I am not sure if this is appropriate. Any advice would be helpful.

2. Also, it seems I am going straight into the facility before any Academy Training. Does anyone see a problem with this practice or is this standard procedure? I realize it is permissible statutorily. But, is it the best practice?
