Topic: The Club House / Living breathing flesh ? I work in a Max security single cell male facility in NC and our count policy for after lockdown time is to simply see a body. We do not have to see movement from the time they lock down until the official count at 6am. Officers do informal counts every hour throughout the night but only are required to see a body. If there are no signs of obvious distress or trauma then no other action is required. As I said though we are a single cell facility so there is no problem with cell mates to worry about. |

Topic: The Club House / SORT In NC we have 2 levels, PERT (Prison Emergency Response Team) and SORT. You must apply to and be accepted in PERT first then from there you can apply and try out for SORT when openings come available. We also have seperate sniper teams which you must also need to be a PERT member in order to try out for. I have been on PERT for over 6 years. Our SORT team only has 12 members for the whole state. |

Topic: The Club House / Answering interview questions The main thing they will be looking for is your common sense and judgement. Being in the military is definitely a plus. You already know discipline and how to obey orders. Granted working for DOP isn’t the same as being a Marine but some of the basics apply. Don’t come in seeming bloodthirsy or overly violent. Firm and consistent are important buzzwords to remember. Good luck and if you are interviewing in NC contact me. I am a Sgt here and can give you additional advice if you need it. Semper Fi. |
