I work in a jail so a little different and I work under the 9th circuit.. so.. I have learned to write goood reports and let the inmate words move them to ad seg… or disciplenary. I do not back down. I have had a 6’2 250+ step up on me and I did not move.. he backed up. I called a sgt with a taser and guess who got moved out while 30 some odd inmates where watching.

WOW been a long time from Post to Post here
Let me say as other have said. Fair and consistent. I have been working for 10 yrs now. I work in a jail.. so we control them a little more due to the mix of inmates we have..have to keep them ALL safe you know. I work in an OPEN dorm setting and yes I work the Male dorms.. we house 74 inmate in a dorm designed for 64.so. Also the level of offender is going up..did have mostly ‘non’ violent inmates in the dorm section of the Jail and other where in North tower in cells.. but now have third Tower to open away form main complex so we will have everything here in the South tower. I am very careful and know my own limits. I am one one.. to 74.. not good odds male or female.
I am still on our SERT team and a FTO and will test for Sgt. on Sat. I have seen a lot of changes and seen the attitude of admin change.. Inmates can have all. So let us all be careful and not inter #$#*. It is us ‘the deck’ guard against the inmate and sometime admin..

Yes I think NONEYA needs the ACLU site./ the one that have created most of our problems in corrections…. inmates are right.. COs must be wrong.

I just found this post/board. I have worked corrections/jail for 9 yrs now. I am on the responds team and work with both male and female inmate.. I do not have a problem working in an open dorm male unit(74 inmate one of me). I tell it like it is to inmates and have learned to read body langue. We do have female Officers that will now work the male dorms… and I do not want them to..they think they are toooo pretttteis. So it all in how you handle yourself.
