PITTSBURGH, PA (JUNE 23, 2006) — As part of a corporate succession plan developed over the past three years, Wexford Health Sources, Inc. recently announced promotions for several key members of its senior management team. The changes, which went into effect June 15, position the $200 million health care company for anticipated geographic, operational, and financial expansion.

Kevin C. Halloran, former President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO), is now Wexford's Chairman, a corporate officer position responsible for guiding the company's business development strategies toward continued growth. “Our strategic recruitment and development of a diverse and talented management team began more than three years ago. The plan is paying off now, as our talent-rich 15-member senior management team is more than qualified to ensure Wexford's future growth and profitability,” commented Halloran.

Former Wexford Executive Vice President (EVP) and Chief Operating Officer (COO) Mark W. Hale moves into the role of company President and CEO, while VP Daniel L. Conn becomes the company's EVP and COO in additional to his current role as Wexford's Chief Financial Officer.

New President and CEO Hale says, “With the execution of Kevin's plan, Wexford is renewing our emphasis on those initiatives we consider vital to providing top quality health care. By consolidating our COO and CFO positions, we strengthen our push to bring technological advances to the correctional health care market. We can better analyze and balance the cost of technology with the operational and financial advantages — immediate as well as long-term — innovations like telemedicine and electronic medical records bring to our clients.

The new senior management layout drives home the fact that Wexford is a physician-driven as well as technology-driven organization. Dr. Thomas Lundquist, Wexford's Chief Medical Officer, is now one of only five senior managers who report directly to the CEO. This makes the company's top physician position strategically equal to the traditional financial and operational “C-level” positions. According to Hale, “We achieved our current high level of clinical quality by giving our physician leadership a primary voice in Wexford strategic decision making. We do not think of clinical issues as merely ‘one piece of operations,' and our new senior management organization reflects our emphasis on clinical program quality.”
