For adults, we only keep them in the chair for 2 hours. If needed or justified, the on call Manager can a lot more time. |

Well restrains period are governed by policy in my state. The shift supervisor or MH staff are the only ones who can order them and only if certain requirements are met. Then we can only leave them down for 2 hours unless ordered by MH supervisor extends it and on top of that medical has to check them every 2 hours and they get range of movement. Then we have to follow a planned use of force policy to put them down. So more often then not unless they are seriously a danger to themselves or others we don’t even humor the idea. We currently have beds a chair that could be moved would make things easier for medical checks though but as little as we use them I don’t see them spending the money here. |

Looking for any information and or contact persons working in Juvenile Corrections. We are looking to push for restraint chairs at our facility, and the administration is pushing for JDAI compliance. Two schools of thought are about to collide and we are trying to obtain information on any juvenile correctional facilities that are currently JDAI compliant but still have retained their tools such as restraint chairs, uniforms, badges ect.. These folks want to take it all away and we are trying to show them that there are facilities out there that have both. Any help would be appreciated. |
